Abstract submission purpose and process

Attendees are required to submit a one-page structured abstract (please see below for information about abstract format) to present their work at the M3X PI meeting. Abstract submissions will be reviewed for fit with the meeting topics and selected for presentation as 1) short (~10 min) oral presentation during one of the sessions or 2) 2 min rapid fire talk + poster presentation. Abstracts will not be published on the meeting website and authors are welcome to include whatever combination of published and unpublished work they deem most appropriate for this event.

Abstract submission is required for receiving a travel award. Awards are reserved for attendees whose research is not currently funded by the M3X program. Funding will be allocated in the following order:

Guaranteed: Attendees selected for an oral presentation
Priority: Attendees (especially early career PIs) not currently funded by the NSF whose abstracts are highly relevant to M3X
Additional awards: Other attendees with relevant abstracts, as funding permits

Abstract format

Abstracts should be submitted as a single two-page pdf document including the abstract title, authors list, authors affiliation, and a main text with the following sections: Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Conclusion, References. Please keep the length of the main text under 450 words, excluding References. The materials above should all fit into one page (1 inch margin, min 11 pt font size for all text excluding References), with the second page including one figure and a caption.
